The butterflyfish, along with the bannerfish and coralfish, collectively form a distinct group of tropical marine fish within the Chaetodontidae family. With approximately 129 species spread across 12 genera, these fish are easily noticeable in their vibrant colors and patterns. They primarily inhabit the reefs of the Atlantic, 🇮🇳 Indian, and 🌊 Pacific Oceans. Notably, several species pairs can be observed in the 🇮🇳 Indian and 🌊 Pacific Oceans, belonging to the extensive genus Chaetodon.
