Dugong

The dugong is classified as a marine mammal, belonging to the order Sirenia alongside three species of manatees. Among the members of the Sirenia order, the dugong stands as the sole surviving representative of the once abundant Dugongidae family. Regrettably, its closest contemporary relative, Steller's sea cow, met its demise in the 18th century due to excessive hunting.
