Parrotfishes encompass a diverse group of fish species that have traditionally been classified as a family (Scaridae), although they are now commonly recognized as a subfamily (Scarinae) or tribe (Scarini) of the wrasses (Labridae). The Indo-Pacific region boasts the greatest variety of undefined species, with approximately 95 different species identified. These remarkable marine creatures inhabit a wide range of ecosystems including coral reefs, rocky coasts, and seagrass beds. Importantly, undefinedes have the ability to significantly contribute to the process of bioerosion.
