The Scombridae family, comprising various species including mackerel, tuna, and bonito, holds significant prominence in the realm of food fishes. With a total count of 51 species spread across 15 genera and two subfamilies, it represents a diverse group. While the vast majority belong to the subfamily Scombrinae, there exists a solitary member, the butterfly kingfish, occupying the subfamily Gasterochismatinae.
