Trichonotus is a genus comprising of marine gobiiform fishes, predominantly found in the Indo-West Pacific region. It is worth mentioning that this genus stands as the sole member of the Trichonotidae family.
Notably, Trichonotus species possess distinctive characteristics including protruding lower jaws, a set of five soft rays, and a single pelvic spine. In males, there is a possibility of observing elongated anterior rays on their dorsal fins. Additionally, their lateral lines are situated along the central flank. A noteworthy feature found on the posterior end of the lateral line scales is a pronounced, V-shaped notch. The designated species for this genus is Trichonotus setiger.
