Porcupinefish are a species of medium-to-large fish that fall under the family Diodontidae within the order Tetraodontiformes. They are widely known as blowfish and occasionally referred to as balloonfish and globefish. It is important to note that they should not be mistaken for the visually similar and closely related Tetraodontidae, which are more commonly referred to as pufferfish.
