The Duskytail Chromis (Chromis pelloura) is a tropical, reef-associated marine species found in the Western 🌊 Indian Ocean, specifically limited to the northern Gulf of Aqaba in the 🌊 Red Sea. This non-migratory fish inhabits steep outer reef slopes at depths ranging from 30 to 50 meters and can reach a maximum length of 14 cm.
The species primarily feeds on zooplankton found near the seabed. Reproduction in Duskytail Chromis is oviparous, involving distinct pairing during the breeding season. The females produce demersal eggs that adhere to the substrate, while the males are responsible for guarding and aerating these eggs. It is noted that the species may face potential threats in its natural habitat.
