Ornate Anemone Shrimp
Actinimenes ornatus
4 cm
The Ornate Anemone Shrimp, scientifically known as Actinimenes ornatus, is a small, vibrant marine species that can reach up to 4.0 cm (approximately 1.6 inches) in length. This captivating shrimp is easily recognizable by the striking red lines on its body and the delicate purple and white dots adorning its legs.
Inhabiting the expansive Indo-West Pacific region, the Ornate Anemone Shrimp is commonly found residing on the tentacles of various sea anemones, most notably Cryptodendrum adhaesivum and Stichodactyla haddoni. These symbiotic relationships with sea anemones provide the shrimp with protection and a steady food supply, while the shrimp helps to keep the anemone clean and free of parasites.
