The Basket Star Shrimp, scientifically named Lipkemenes lanipes, is a small crustacean measuring around 1 centimeter (roughly 0.4 inches) in size. It exhibits a brownish color with distinctive light bands that make it identifiable. This shrimp species is typically found in shallow coral reef areas, often living in close association with Basket Stars. The Basket Star Shrimp relies heavily on these echinoderms for sustenance, as it feeds during their cleaning activities. Nocturnal by nature, this shrimp is most active during the nighttime. Native to the Indo-West 🌊 Pacific Ocean, it is an integral part of the marine ecosystem in this region.
