Longfin Fairy Wrasse

The longfin fairy wrasse (Cirrhilabrus rubriventralis), commonly known as the social wrasse, is a species of wrasse that can be found in the western 🌊 Indian Ocean, ranging from the 🌊 Red Sea to 🇿🇦 South Africa. While there have been claims of its occurrence in the western Pacific, these remain uncertain. The longfin fairy wrasse primarily inhabits coral reefs at depths ranging from 3 to 43 meters (9.8 to 141.1 feet). With a maximum length of 7.5 cm (3.0 inches), this species is relatively small in size. It is worth noting that the longfin fairy wrasse is sometimes sold in the aquarium trade.

Apart from the longfin fairy wrasse, there is another species known as the social wrasse (Halichoeres socialis), which can only be found in the Pelican Keys in 🇧🇿 Belize. However, this particular species is critically endangered.
