The Sparidae family of fish, classified under the order Perciformes, is widely known as sea breams and porgies. Notable species within this family include the sheepshead, scup, and undefinedbream. Sparids typically exhibit a deep-bodied compressed physique, characterized by a small mouth that is widely spaced from the eye. They possess a singular dorsal fin with robust spines and soft rays, a succinct anal fin, elongated pectoral fins with pointed tips, and well-anchored large scales. These carnivorous creatures predominantly inhabit shallow temperate and tropical waters, favoring habitats close to the bottom of aquatic environments.
