Carangidae

The Carangidae is a prominent family of ray-finned fish, encompassing various species such as jacks, pompanos, jack mackerels, runners, trevallies, and scads. This family stands as the largest among the six families comprising the order Carangiformes. While certain authorities classify it as the sole family within this order, recent molecular and anatomical studies suggest a significant correlation between the Carangidae and the five former Perciform families that constitute the Carangiformes.
