Pempheridae

Sweepers, belonging to the family Pempheridae, are a group of small, tropical marine perciform fish. With around 26 species spread across two genera, they can be found in the western Atlantic Ocean and Indo-Pacific region. One particular species holds significance in 🇯🇵 Japan, where it is highly sought after in subsistence fisheries due to its delectable taste. Furthermore, sweepers are occasionally chosen as inhabitants for marine aquaria.
