The Pempheris nesogallica is a marine, pelagic-neritic tropical species, reaching a maximum length of 13.9 cm. It is characterized by its total of 6 dorsal spines, accompanied by 9 to 10 dorsal soft rays, 3 anal spines, and 38 to 41 anal soft rays. The species possesses 25 vertebrae. Notable distinguishing features include 52 to 59 pored lateral-line scales, 5.5 scale rows above the lateral line, and 16 circumpeduncular scales. The absence of a blackish spot on the pectoral fin base and a blackish tip on the dorsal fin are characteristic, along with a chest that is typically keeled but occasionally only weakly or not at all. The eye diameter measures between 11.6% and 12.8% of the standard length, and 39.4% to 42.3% of the head length. It has a very deep body, constituting 46.1% to 53.4% of the standard length. The paired fins are pink.

This species is widely distributed in the western 🌊 Indian Ocean but has only been documented in the southern part of the 🌊 Red Sea.
