Mantas are currently listed under CITES Appendix II, but conservationists are pushing for an uplisting to Appendix I, which would ban all international trade and close enforcement gaps. This year’s focus is on uniting local communities, governments, and organizations behind science, advocacy, and legal protections to give manta and devil rays the best chance to thrive.
