Chanos chanos

The milkfish, scientifically known as Chanidae, is the only living species within its family. However, during the Cretaceous period, there were at least five extinct genera belonging to this family. The repetitive scientific name, known as a tautonym, can be traced back to its Greek origin, "khanos."
