Below about 5 m (16 ft) red is gone from the water and everything reads blue, which is why reef photos taken without light look nothing like the reef. A wide 120 degree beam at 6500 K puts the color back over a frame-sized area rather than a spot. The snoot is the useful part for macro: it narrows the beam onto one subject and lets the background go black, which is how those isolated shots of a single blenny are made. 1200 lumens is a photography light, not a search light for a wreck interior.
