# Spotted Moray (*Gymnothorax punctatus*)

Gymnothorax punctatus, a species of moray eel, inhabits coral reefs within the Red Sea. The species was first described by Marcus Elieser Bloch and Johann Gottlob Schneider in 1801. It is commonly referred to as the Red Sea whitespotted moray or the whitespotted moray.
