# Leopard Torpedo Ray (*Torpedo panthera*)

Torpedo panthera, also known as the leopard torpedo, is a type of fish belonging to the Torpedinidae family. It can be found in Djibouti, Egypt, Eritrea, India, Iran, Oman, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan, and Yemen. This fish inhabits open seas and is typically found near coral reefs, burying itself in the sand at depths ranging from 0.5 to 55 meters. Its coloration is yellow-brown with small white star-shaped spots. The leopard torpedo is known for its calm nature and slow swimming speed when disturbed. It is a common species and tends to migrate to deeper waters during the winter season.

Leopard Torpedo Rays are typically not aggressive, and their electric shocks are generally not harmful to humans. However, it is important to exercise caution around these animals, as they can deliver a painful shock if they feel threatened.
