This species is endemic to the Red Sea, with anecdotal reports from the Gulf of Aden and Socotra warranting further validation. It is typically found in sheltered coral reef environments and sandy areas with rubble, inhabiting depths ranging from 1 to 20 meters (3.3 to 65.6 feet).
