# Yellowfin Soldierfish (*Myripristis chryseres*)

The Myripristis chryseres, commonly known as the yellowfin soldierfish, is a nocturnal species within the Myripristis genus. This species is indigenous to the Indo-Pacific region, with its range extending from Natal, South Africa to Samoa, Hawaii, and the Tuamotu Islands, northward to southern Japan and the Ogasawara Islands, and southward to Queensland, Australia. The yellowfin soldierfish typically inhabits steep outer reef slopes and is frequently observed in association with Coelacanths near Ngazidja Island. Its diet primarily consists of zooplankton, and it can be found either solitary or in aggregations.
