# Red Sea Porgy (*Diolodus noct*)

The Red Sea Porgy (Diolodus noct) is a marine species predominantly found in tropical, reef-associated environments. It inhabits depths ranging from 1 to 8 meters. The species can attain a maximum length of 25 cm, with a more commonly observed length of approximately 15 cm.

This fish is typically found over sandy substrates, in proximity to coral reefs, and within shallow coastal waters. Juvenile individuals often form aggregations. The Red Sea Porgy primarily feeds on algae and small invertebrates and is commercially available in markets, sold fresh and whole.

It is apparently endemic to the Red Sea, part of the Western Indian Ocean, suggesting a geographically restricted distribution.
