# Lined Clingfish (*Lepadichthys lineatus*)

**Taxon:** Clingfishes (*Gobiesocidae*)

Lepadichthys lineatus, commonly referred to as the twoline clingfish, doubleline clingfish, or doublestripe feather star clingfish, is a diminutive species of clingfish that can reach up to 45 mm in length. This species predominantly inhabits the arms of [crinoids](/taxon/invertebrate/echinoderms/sea-lilies) and subsists by feeding on their pinnulae.

Characteristically, Lepadichthys lineatus exhibits a dark reddish hue accentuated by four yellow lines and interspersed yellow dots.

The geographic distribution of this species is within the Indo-Pacific region, extending from the Red Sea to Fiji. However, its presence is not continuous across this range; rather, it is sporadically distributed, with confirmed sightings recorded in locations such as Mozambique, the Seychelles, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, the Philippines, Papua New Guinea, the Mariana Islands, Japan, and Fiji.
