## Overview

Known interchangeably as Camel Reef, this dive site is positioned on the southeastern side of Abu Ramada Island. It is defined by a substantial erg, featuring three distinct peaks that rise from an extended plateau. The surrounding seabed consists of sand, which gradually transforms into a vibrant coral garden towards the northern area.

## Location

The location is situated approximately 80 minutes away from the core of Hurghada.

## Conditions

This site frequently encounters adverse weather and powerful currents. A degree of prior experience is necessary for exploring its deeper sections.

## Dive plan

The diving experience at this site varies significantly with the prevailing current. On calm days, with minimal water movement, you can depart from the mooring to explore the rich marine life within the coral garden, which descends both eastward and westward.

Afterward, turn to conclude your dive navigating around and between the erg's prominent peaks. The erg's summit offers a spectacular safety stop location, assuring numerous perfect camera angles in this area.

## What to see

This dive site has maintained its pristine state, a direct consequence of its frequently strong currents and somewhat exposed location.

The erg is richly adorned with soft corals and countless anthias. Within its numerous caverns and cracks, vast schools of glassfish seek sanctuary from lurking scorpionfish and lionfish. Crocodilefish find refuge beneath table corals, and moray eels are often observed navigating the peaks, accompanied by napoleon wrasse and diverse aggregations of schooling fish.

## Species recorded here (6)

- Common Lionfish (*Pterois miles*)
- Crocodilefish (*Papilloculiceps longiceps*)
- Lunate Anthias (*Pseudanthias lunulatus*)
- Lyretail Anthias (*Pseudanthias squamipinnis*)
- Napoleon Wrasse (*Cheilinus undulatus*)
- Tasseled Scorpionfish (*Scorpaenopsis oxycephala*)
